Trilateral Tabletop Exercise Conducted by the Prospect Foundation with the Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the Indo-Pacific Institute for Security Studies

The Prospect Foundation, together with Japan’s Sasakawa Peace Foundation and the U.S. Indo-Pacific Institute for Security Studies, recently held a “ Taiwan-U.S.-Japan Trilateral Tabletop Exercise.”

The Japanese delegation included Nobukatsu Kanehara, Executive Director of Sasakawa Peace Foundation; Tomohisa Takei, former Chief of Staff of the Japan Maritime Self-Defense Force; and Koji Yamazaki, former Chief of Staff of Japan Ground Self-Defense Force.

From the U.S. side, participants included Randy Schriver, Chairman of the Institute for Indo-Pacific Security, and former U.S. Ambassador to Burma, Derek Mitchell.

Over the course of a day and a half, the three sides conducted tabletop simulations focusing on China’s gray-zone coercion and potential blockade scenarios targeting Taiwan.
